Call of Duty 2 Update Available Now


Infinity Ward has been hard at work to solve the problems that clouded what is one of the best Xbox 360 titles released so far and today Activision announced the release of a second title update for Call of Duty 2.

The Update offers significant enhancements, including improved multiplayer performance, the ability to reserve friend slots in private game lobbies, post-game lobbies so friends can play longer, configurable host options and more. The Xbox 360 update will be automatically applied the next time users log into Xbox Live with CoD 2.

Activision also revealed new details surrounding the upcoming release of a highly-anticipated update for the PC version of Call of Duty 2. Infinity Ward will include the previously announced PunkBuster anti-cheat technology, as well as two new multiplayer maps: Rhine and the longtime community favorite Harbor, from the original Call of Duty.

Απελυσαν τον moderator του IWNation, ονοματι Telly,επειδη εδωσε πληροφοριες για το patch του CoD2.Eιχε πει συγκεκριμενα μεσα απο το forum της εταιριας οτι το patch θα κυκλοφορουσε μεσα στις 2 επομενες εβδομαδες(τοτε,οχι αυτες που ερχονται).

In a surprising move, moderator Tally who told the world about the current Call of Duty 2 multiplayer patch status has now been removed from IWNation crew. What this means for the authenticity of his reports, no idea, although many people have confirmed his story as they have called Infinity Ward and been told personally the patch is to arrive within 2 weeks.
To quote Major Pain, administrator at IWNation forum:

We all agreed that we would do best to remove Tally from moderator status here on IWNation.com.
The current problems and situation had reached it’s top, and it’s causing us a bad reputation.
We’ve had to deal with many problems in the past, so this was something we could definately not use. Plus, we did not like the way the ‘patch-topic’ was posted.

Tally’s post further down the same topic sees him implying a smear campaign has been launched against him. He also hints at problems existing between Infinity Ward and IWNation, which dubs itself “the official Infinity Ward forums”.
Where this places all of us is beyond anyone’s guess, but it’s clear at the very least that IW and IWN have been making a huge mess of a lot of things.

The below update was just posted by Infinity Ward over at the Xbox forums. The good news is that they are working on some of the top commmunity requests and they’ll roll them out as soon as then can. No…I can’t give you a date, since I don’t know due to the testing involved. Once I have more specifics, I’ll post ‘em, but it looks like we’re getting closer.



Dear Call of Duty Community:
As you recall, we announced plans that we were working on our second Title Update for Call of Duty 2, improving the Xbox Live multiplayer functionality. We’re happy to report that this update is currently in the final stages of testing and all is going well. In fact, we will be releasing it soon, so stay tuned. To give you a better understanding of what we have been working on, the second COD2 Title Update will have the following enhancements:
1. Player Lag has been addressed
Plus, we have added the following functionality:
2. Private Game Lobbies / Reserved Slots
3. Enabled the Live Host to set custom game options
4. Map Preferences setting
5. Post Game Lobbies (all players at end of match will return to their game lobby)
6. Enemy Player Name Notification
7. Ability for the Host to kick a player
8. In game Lobby - Game Type, Map and Host Notifications

Συνοπτικα αναφερει τα παρακατω:
Το patch δοκιμαζεται ζωντανα στο live καθως αρκετοι παιχτες λενε πως βρεθηκαν να παιζουν 24 ατομα μαζι (το glitch επετρεπε maximum 16 ατομα) σε εναν σερβερ χωρις lag.Μαλλον η Activision θα δημιουργησει servers για να ελλατωσει το lag στο ελαχιστο,καθως και υποστηριξη για 64 ατομα οπως το PC.Σκοπος της λενε πως ειναι να μην πεσουν οι πωλησεις της με τη κυκλοφορια του GRAW.

Παντως εμενα μου φαινεται δυσκολο να παιζουν 64 ατομα σε αυτες τις πιστες που εχει τωρα το παιχνιδι καθως ειναι σχετικα μικρες εκτος απο μια-δυο εξαιρεσεις.Σε 3 εως 6 μηνες απο τωρα θα υπαρχει και η δυνατοτητα δημιουργιας Clan.

Κατι παρομοιο ειχε γινει και παλιοτερα με το Halo 2 οπου ξαφνικα βρεθηκαν παραπανω απο το κανονικο οριο που επιτρεπει το παιχνιδι εξ αρχης ατομα να παιζουν μεταξυ τους.Κατι αναλογο φημολογειτε οτι συμβαινει και τωρα.

εγω νομιζω οτι δεν θα αργησει.
νο.1 game σε πωλησεις ειναι, και ακομα υπαρχουνε πολλοι ανθρωποι που ΔΕΝ εχουνε καταφερει να βρουνε 360 να αγορασουνε.
και αυτοι το cod2 θα το εχουνε στη λιστα προτιμησης τους.

Infinity Ward responded on yesterdays Call of Duty 2 patch on the official Xbox forums. Aside from the information we already had (patch published yesterday, only fixed the save bug) they also clearly state they are indeed working on a multiplayer patch and that they are addressing lag issues. Thanks to Major Nelson.

"Hello everyone! Now that our first Title Update for Call of Duty 2 has been certified for release, we want to let you know what to expect. The update that was released today addresses a save game corruption issue that affected player progression for some people within the single player saved campaigns.
In addition, we are pleased to announce that we are testing a number of multiplayer enhancements to the community, including addressing the lag issues. We are working really hard on these updates. Development is a timely process and we appreciate your patience. Infinity Ward is excited about your enthusiasm and support for Call of Duty 2 and we look forward to speaking with you soon. "

Στα σκαρια λενε οτι ειναι και το patch για το Multiplayer αλλα δεν ξερουν ημερομηνια!!

Update: Teamxbox received an official statement from Activision. It appears as though the only thing this patch patches is the savegame bug in the singeplayer campaign. Infinity Ward is still working on a multiplayer patch.
